NoDa Restaurants & Dining

Independent kitchens concentrated around North Davidson and 36th Street, listed only when their own sites confirm them.

NoDa's restaurants are mostly independent and concentrated along North Davidson Street around 32nd to 36th Streets, in mill-era storefronts, converted houses and newer mixed-use buildings. That makes the scene distinctive and also changeable: rooms open, rename and close more often than a guide can track by memory.

So this page lists only restaurants whose own websites currently confirm their NoDa address — among them Haberdish, The Goodyear House, Cabo Fish Taco, Ever Andalo, JackBeagle's and Benny Pennello's — and describes each in the terms its owners use. Optimist Hall, a food hall in a former mill a short way south in Optimist Park, is included and labeled as outside the district.

Restaurants on the North Davidson strip

The strip's kitchens range from Southern cooking to Baja tacos, Italian and pizza by the slice. Several occupy buildings that predate the restaurants by decades: The Goodyear House operates in a restored mill-era house with patios and a covered greenhouse, and Ever Andalo opened in the building where its owners ran Crêpe Cellar for 13 years.

Turnover is real. Crêpe Cellar, long a fixture of older NoDa guides, has closed; any list of NoDa restaurants older than a year or two should be checked against the restaurant's own site before you rely on it.

Planning a meal

Reservation policies vary by restaurant, and some smaller rooms do not take them. Each restaurant's site states whether it books tables, and that is the only reliable answer for a specific night.

Popular rooms on weekend evenings and on nights with big shows at the Neighborhood Theatre will be busier than a weeknight. That is a general expectation for a nightlife district rather than a measured wait time, so allow some flexibility in your plans.

Food halls and nearby options

Optimist Hall, at 1115 North Brevard Street in Optimist Park, gathers food stalls, restaurants and bars in a redeveloped mill and is a common pairing with an evening in NoDa. It is outside the arts district, south of the 25th Street station area.

Breweries with kitchens, such as Heist Brewery, and bottle shops serving food, such as Salud Beer Shop with its wood-fired pizza, add to the options on the strip itself.
